Wallsend pub is targeted by arsonists while people inside
ARSONISTS have tried to torch a Wallsend pub – while people were inside.
Firebugs struck at around 10.10pm on Tuesday March 4, smashing a window at the Rose Inn, on Rosehill Bank in the North Tyneside suburb and setting the pub alight.
Three people who live in an upstairs flat discovered the blaze and escaped unharmed, but police say the situation could have been much worse.
Northumbria Police‘s DI Steve Wouldhave said: “There were three people in the flat above the pub, and while they fortunately got out unharmed, this could have had far worse consequences.
“We’re carrying out enquiries into this arson and would urge anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area or who has information about who is involved to get in touch as soon as possible.”
