Cullercoats Brewery hopes to catch Girls on the Hop

Girls on the Hop - Jade Skeels from Boda Home in Whitley Bay and Anna Scantlebury from Cullercoats BreweryCullercoats Brewery’s Anna Scantlebury is aiming to educate other women about the joys of beer with the “Girls on the Hop” tasting on Tyneside.

The brewster – that’s female brewer – is teaming up with Jade Skeels from Boda Home in Whitley Bay for an alternative “girls’ night out”.

“I’ve been a real ale fan since my student days, but many women have never tried it,” said Anna, who helped husband Bill brew for six months before moving over to look after the sales and admin side of the Wallsend-based brewery.

“I hope the Girls on the Hop event will be an opportunity for women to taste some of the huge variety of beers available, learn a bit about how it’s made, and enjoy a different kind of girls’ night out.”

Jade will be providing food to go with the five English beers that women will try at the Girls on the Hop event on May 15.

“The evening is about sharing some good food and local beer, and for some joining us, they could be trying something new,” she said. “Anna and I are both really looking forward to hosting this event.

“We hope people will come along with their friends to Girls on the Hop, get stuck in and have some fun.”

The tasting is for women only and by ticket in advance. To book a place, costing £14.95 visit the Girls on the Hop eventbrite website, www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/girls-on-the-hop-tickets-10613831255?aff=es2
