Tilley’s Bar to close for refurbishment
A POPULAR city centre pub is to shut for refurbishment, but aims to reopen inside a week.
Tilley’s Bar on Westgate Road in Newcastle will close its doors on Monday January 12, with bosses hoping that, should all go to plan, it will reopen at midday on Friday 16.
“We’re having a small refurb so closing for four days from Monday 12 to Thursday 15 January,” said Graham Frost, manager of the Camerons Brewery owned pub. “And we aim to re-open on Friday, if all goes to plan, for business as usual at 12pm.
“The refurbishment will see a lick of paint, some new furniture and some ventilation in the men’s bogs, and some new signage, but we don’t really need a lot doing.”
Tilley’s Bar was one of seven Head of Steam pubs bought by Hartlepool based Camerons in December 2013.
When the pub reopens it hopes to entice in drinkers with half priced food on Friday – making a portion of homemade chips 50p, and nachos for two with beef or bean chilli £4.
Tilley’s Bar will also offer 20% off its range of bottled beers and half price pints of Camerons Brewery beer for a day.
