Pub burglary foiled after thieves scared off by staff

Four men broke into a Sunderland pub in an early morning raid but left empty handed after being scared off by staff.

Now, two months on, Northumbria Police are appealing for information  to try and catch the gang who targeted the New Derby on Roker Baths Road.

“Between 2:30am and 3:40am on Sunday, August 17, four men broke into the New Derby public house on Roker Baths Road,” a spokesman for the force said.

“They searched the property but were disturbed by a staff member before fleeing the scene empty handed.

“The men were wearing hooded tops with their hoods up and hats covering their faces.”

Inquiries into the pub burglary are ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone with any information into the burglary to contact them on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference number 258 170814.
