Malhotras welcome NE beers for Sandpiper’s first ale festival
Bosses at one of Newcastle’s biggest pub and club owners is welcoming in North East beers for a coastal tavern’s first ever beer festival.
Anarchy, Cullercoats, Firebrick, High House Farm and Wylam breweries will all see three of their beers hit the bar at the Sandpiper in Cullercoats this weekend, August 30 and 31.
“Real ales are definitely growing in popularity and we thought this festival would be great way of forging links with our local breweries while also giving our customers the chance to sample ales they may not have tried before,” said Atul Malhotra, a director of the Malhotra Group, which also owns the Three Mile Inn in Gosforth, Osbornes in Jesmond, the Market Lane in Newcastle city centre and The Runhead, at Ryton in Gateshead.
As well as the beers, the Farringdon Road pub will welcome three ciders, food and a weekend of family fun and entertainment.
On Saturday there will be a bouncy castle and face painter, followed by a barbecue from 4pm to 9pm.
And, on Sunday there will be a magician, a carvery from noon to 4pm, free curry from 6pm to 9pm and live entertainment throughout the evening.
