Anarchy’s latest special is a Storm Tea cup

Storm Tea Lapsang SouchongAnarchy Brew Co is eyeing up a brew of a different kind, announcing it is working with Storm Tea on a “tea beer” for release this autumn.

The brewery, based in Morpeth, Northumberland, has teamed up with the loose leaf cuppa maker, from High Spen ion Gateshead, to work on a 4.5% ABV smoked porter made with Lapsang Souchong.

“Beer is undoubtedly best when shared so we thought it was time for another collaborative brew,” a spokesman for the brewery said.

“Storm Tea have won fans all over the UK thanks to their superb range of organic loose leaf teas – from the crisp freshness of their peppermint tea, to their delicately scented Earl Grey, Storm Tea’s range is fantastic, offering the very best gourmet quality, organic tea for an official ‘storm in a tea cup.’

“That’s why we’re delighted to be working on a beer with them. We’re using their delicious China Tarry Lapsang Souchong; a smokey loose leaf tea which we’ll use to create a 4.5% smoked porter.

“This legendary smoked tea gets its unique flavour from the noble pinewood trees and adds an incredible depth of character to our beer.”

No exact release date has been announced for the beer, though the brewery says to expect it “in the autumn.”
