Out There Brewing Co launches space-inspired Laika and Celestial Love (VIDEO)
SPACE-inspired brewers Out There Brewing Co have launched their first two brews to drinkers in Newcastle.
The new 2.5 barrel brewery, based on the Foundry Lane Industrial Estate in the city’s Ouseburn area, is the brainchild of former pub landlord Steve Pickhall, who gave up life behind the bar seven years ago to look after his young children.
But having bought his brew plant from Ouseburn Valley Brewery, he’s now getting back into the beer game with his first two brews, Belgian wheat-style Laika and American amber Celestial Love.
“Being able to buy your own beer in a pub is a great feeling, but seeing other people buy it and return for more is even better,” said Steve, who visited Byker’s Free Trade Inn on Saturday December 8 to launch his brews, which have also been supplied to the nearby Cumberland Arms.
Laika is named for the first dog in space, while Celestial Love is the title of a track by jazz musician Sun Ra.
