Award winning pub near Kielder reservoir put up for sale

The Blackcock Country Inn in Falstone, NorthumberlandAn award winning country inn near Northumberland’s Kielder reservoir has been put up for sale with a price tag of £425,000.

The Blackcock Country Inn, in Falstone, near the east end of the popular landmark, was crowned the UK’s top bed and breakfast establishment in 2013 by Les Routiers.

But now the six-room, 17th-century inn is on the market through Christie + Co.

“The client purchased the Blackcock Inn back in 2004 via Christie + Co and since then, they have significantly improved the reputation and trade levels of the business,” said Mark Worley, of Christie + Co’s Newcastle office, who is handling the sale.

“The Blackcock Inn has recently been awarded ‘Bed & Breakfast of the Year 2013’ by Les Routiers.”

The pub – a landmark itself on the road up to Kielder, has what the property agents describe as a “homely bar/lounge and games room” on the ground floor with total seating for up to 50 people.

A separate restaurant also has space for 18 diners, while there is also “an attractive beer garden to the front of the property, ample customer parking and an owners garage.”

On the first floor, the pub has six letting rooms – four of which have en suite facilities, with the other two sharing a bathroom.

Next door to the inn – and included in the purchase price – is a detached cottage, comprising a lounge, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.

Christie + Co is seeking offers over £425,000 for the freehold, with more information available by calling 0191 222 1740.
