A Victorian pub could be demolished to make way for houses after an application was made to Durham County Council.
Plans have been submitted to raze The Masons Arms, in West Rainton, near Durham and build five new homes on the site.
The village pub, known locally as the Top House, dates back to the 1890s but closed on June 29.
Durham County Council is expected to make a decision on the application before Christmas.
