Shed brewer delighted by money raised for Sir Bobby Robson Foundation

SHED brewer Ken Oliver has raised £196 for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation with his take on President Barack Obama’s Honey Porter recipe.

The Kenton-based “home brewer” – under the name Montague Estate Craft Brewing – produced the 5.3% ABV Honey POTUS, which went on sale at the Washington Arts Centre, to coincide with the US election.

Ken, who recently also saw his 4.7% ABV Oliver’s Honey Brown Ale, a collaboration with Temptation Brewery, sell out in only a day when it hit the bar at the Job Bulman in Gosforth said he was delighted by the money raised.

“I’m over the moon,” he said “It raised £196 and it’s all good money for the charity.

“It’s not a great amount but it all helps.

“I lost my mum to cancer and everyone touched by it, plus Bobby was a canny lad. It seems to make sense.

“I just hope they make good use of it and I’m sure they will.”
