Darts means drinks as Tilley’s Bar celebrates stocking 180 bottled beers

Tilleys-topperCITY pub bosses are inviting drinkers to step up to the oche to celebrate their latest milestone in bottled beer.

Only eight months after passing the 150 mark, Tilley’s Bar on Newcastle’s Westgate Road has seen it’s fridges swell to stock 180 different brands of booze from around the globe.

And so the Head of Steam pub is set to host an evening of darts – this Thursday, August 22, where customers win depending on what they score.

“For 180 beers we thought it only fitting to dust off the old dart board and invite you in for a game of arrows,” said assistant manager Anthony Ellis.

“We’ll be offering everyone the chance to play our ‘Beer for Darts’ game – £5 gets you three darts and your score gets you the corresponding beer numbered from zero to 180 on our menu, with some of the bottles worth up to £25.

“Players will also get a limited edition badge, a random brewery/distillery t-shirt, a lucky dip entry and a whole host of other prizes including tombola tickets – which has prizes include Mashup festival tickets, a bottle of Anarchy Brew Co’s new 18% eisbock, outdoor parasols, more beer paraphernalia or the top prize is an iPod Shuffle.

“Anyone who gets a bullseye and win a free measure of the new Anarchy eisbock too.

“The idea is everyone’s a winner and we’ll be throwing in some spot prizes and freebies all day long – plus we’ll be live tweeting contestants scores as they happen and we’ll be projecting a live feed of the dartboard up on our big screen.”
