Resolution Increases Real Ale And Meets Black Paw Brewery (VIDEO and GALLERY)

ALE-LOVERS on Teesside flocked to The Resolution in Middlesbrough town centre for a chance to meet the man behind Black Paw Brewery.

Despite being a Lloyds No. 1 bar, the brand of the JD Wetherspoon pub chain known more for its loud music and party atmosphere a weekends, managers Olly & Josh were keen to increase the range of real ale available. “We were getting to the point where our volumes were high enough that we needed to put more ale on,” explained Olly, “We doubled the bank of ale, which was an investment for us.”

To showcase this increasing range, the pub hopes to offer more Meet The Brewer events in future months. “We’ve got quite a good involvement with a couple of the local breweries,” Olly said, “it’s just a matter of scheduling some times.”

The success of this night was shown by members of the Cleveland Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale being present, as well as locals who’d never tried real ale, and students from TURAS – Teesside University’s Real Ale Society. The young people plan to look out for the brewery, with it’s distinctive pump clips, in future, “The Committee of the society could probably organise a brewery tour soon,” noted John Pinkney, the President of Teesside University Students’ Union.
