Pub attack in Gateshead leaves woman with injuries to face

A 33-year-old woman suffered facial injures after being assaulted in a Gateshead pub attack.

The incident happened at the Highlander Inn on Front Street in Winlaton at approximately 10.15pm on Friday January 24 2014.

The woman was in the pub when an altercation took place and she was assaulted by a man.  She suffered injuries to her face and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

Following treatment she was released from hospital.

Northumbria Police are now appealing for witnesses, and anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact officers.
